Mercedes-Benz Charging Levels
The more you know about EV charging, the easier it will be to take home an electric vehicle. Here’s a look at the three different levels of EV charging, and what they can be used for.
Level 1 Charging
Level 1 charging is the lowest level of charging, which is why it’s predominately used by plug-in hybrid vehicles, which have smaller batteries than fully electric cars. Level 1 charging is already available through the infrastructure in your home and doesn’t require additional charging infrastructure installation.
Level 2 Charging
Level 2 charging can be used by both plug-in hybrid vehicles and fully electric cars. It has mid-level charging speed and capacity, but it is the only level of charging available with home charger installation. There are often federal incentives available for home charger installation, up to 30% of total costs.
Level 3 Charging
Level 3 charging is the highest level of charging, which is why it’s only available for fully electric Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The voltage is too high for residential homes, so Level 3 charging can only be found at public charging stations. You can learn all about alternative energy vehicle ownership right here at Mercedes-Benz of Owings Mills.
