Here at Mercedes-Benz of Owings Mills, we believe the Mercedes-Benz EV charging process should be smooth and easy. We’re here to help you make the change to alternative energy driving, with a wide range of hybrid and EV models, and information on charging your vehicle.
Here’s a look at when you should plug in and power up.
EVs and Charging
Charging EV models is easy, but there are a few differences between plugging in to charge and stopping at a gas station. The biggest one is time. EVs take longer to charge, so you do want to keep to a good charging schedule, to ensure you always have the power you need for the next adventure.
Manufacturers recommend keeping your vehicle charged 20-80%, to protect the battery. Here are a few things to help you determine when to charge your car.
How Far You’re Driving
Most of the electric vehicles available at our dealership have an impressive range. If you’re driving locally or taking your daily commute, you can stick to charging your vehicle every few days.
Where the Next Station Is
It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with charging stations along your route, especially if you’re driving further from home. Before charging, look at your current range and determine where you’ll have to stop next.
When You Charged Last
You actually want to avoid charging your vehicle every day. Constantly keeping your car plugged in can actually reduce the capacity of battery and require more frequent charging in the future. Of course, charge depending on your driving needs, but skip the full “tank” when possible.
