Mercedes-AMG® is developing its first in-house SUV, which is set to be the second vehicle to be built on the AMG®.EA electric high-performance platform. This highly anticipated new model will be the sixth vehicle fully developed by Mercedes-AMG®, and while the automaker has been producing SUVs for over 25 years, this is the first clean-sheet SUV design created entirely by the high-performance Mercedes-AMG® division. What to Expect from the New Mercedes-AMG® SUV
Here at Mercedes-Benz of Owings Mills, we expect the new Mercedes-AMG® SUV to be even more powerful and luxurious than the current models. It is likely to be available with a variety of engine options, including an all-electric powertrain. The upcoming SUV is also expected to be equipped with a variety of advanced performance features like an adaptive air suspension, active ride control, and a rear-axle steering system. Like all Mercedes-AMG® vehicles, you can expect the Mercedes-AMG® SUV to be comfortable and luxurious inside and out.
Current Status
The first step of cold-weather testing on the upcoming Mercedes-AMG® SUV has begun, which is an important part of the development process for electric powertrains. Currently, the model is undergoing testing in northern Sweden in order to ensure that the electric powertrain’s components are interacting properly.

The SUV body style has long been a cornerstone of the Mercedes-AMG® line. The performance brand pioneered this segment over 25 years ago with the Mercedes-Benz ML 55 AMG®, and today, it boasts six SUV model lines:
